Attorney William T. Bly, or Bill, as his friends and clients call him, came to Maine to attend law school in 2001. His experience with the people of Maine and the beauty of our fair state led him to the decision to make this great state his permanent home and he’s never looked back.
Prior to moving to Maine to attend law school, Bill spent his early years growing up in Hackettstown, NJ. He attended a local parochial school and attended high school at Phillipsburg Catholic. Not knowing what to do with his life, Bill joined the United States Army in 1994, where he served with distinction both domestically and overseas (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and South Korea).
Bill served his country until his enlistment ended in 1997, at which point he embarked on the path to obtaining a college degree with the help of the G.I. Bill. Bill is a graduate of the University of Maine School of Law where he received his J.D. in 2004 and Rutgers University, where he graduated with honors in 2000, majoring in Political Science.
Understanding Your Family Needs
Bill is the child of a social worker, so he’s especially attuned to empathizing with clients in difficult situations and developing a thorough understanding of his clients’ problems. He genuinely cares about his clients and as a good listener, is able to help the client blaze a trail out of the wilderness of their problems. Oftentimes, people just want to be heard.

Most importantly, and perhaps uniquely, Bill will recommend a course of action that emphasizes fairness for both parties, so that you and your soon to be ex-spouse, can get through this process with your collective dignity intact.

Bill lives in Scarborough with his son and wife, who he’s been happily married to since 2002. During his time off, Bill enjoys skiing and fly fishing, both of which border on obsessions rather than mere hobbies. In the winter, you can find him skiing at Wildcat in New Hampshire or Shawnee in Maine.
During the summer, Bill is usually spending his time off fly fishing in Rangeley and Greenville. When he’s not on a river or skiing down a mountain, Bill spends his free time with his wife and son.
